On the T −dependence of the magnetic penetration depth in unconventional superconductors at low temperatures: can it be linear? Abstract We present a thermodynamics argument against a strictly linear temperature dependence of the magnetic penetration depth, which applies to superconduc-tors with arbitrary pairing symmetry at low temperatures.

The Kosztin-Leggett Nonlocal Effect on the Magnetic Penetration Depth in Superconductors with Nodes in the Gap
Penetration depth measurements have played a very fundamental role in the study of the gap symmetry of all unconventional superconductors. For instance, from magnetic penetration depth measurements it was first suggested the dwave symmetry for the energy gap in high critical temperature superconductors (HTSC) [1]. It is expected that, for superconducting energy gaps with nodes on the Fermi surf...

To understand the mechanism of superconductivity in unconventional super onductors is one of the big challenges in the field of superconductivity. Based on the BCS theory, there is a direct relation between the pairing mechanism and the symmetry of the order parameter. Therefore, identification of the structure of the superconducting gap or the order parameter provides key information on the pa...

The superconducting gap structure in iron-based high-temperature superconductors (Fe-HTSs) is non-universal. In contrast to other unconventional superconductors, in the Fe-HTSs both d-wave and extended s-wave pairing symmetries are close in energy. Probing the proximity between these very different superconducting states and identifying experimental parameters that can tune them is of central i...

We show that the field dependence of the magnetic penetration depth (λ), for which muon spin rotation (μSR) is an excellent microscopic probe, provides useful information on the degree of anisotropy for the superconducting order parameter. In type II superconductors associated with anisotropic order parameters, λ is sensitive to the quasiparticle excitation induced by the Doppler shift due to a...

We report high-sensitivity microwave measurements of the in-plane penetration depth lambda_{ab} and quasiparticle scattering rate 1/tau in several single crystals of the hole-doped Fe-based superconductor Ba(1-x)K(x)Fe(2)As(2) (x approximately 0.55). While a power-law temperature dependence of lambda_{ab} with a power approximately 2 is found in crystals with large 1/tau, we observe an exponent...
